Dupre Consulting was set up in 2009 by Gill Elwell, with the aim of providing flexible, professional  health, safety and environmental services in a friendly and approachable way to businesses of all sizes,  whatever their needs and wherever they are on their journey through what can seem like a compliance jungle

Gill Elwell

Principal Consultant

Gill is an experienced health, safety and environmental professional who has designed and implemented both Health & Safety and Environmental management systems and provided a wide range of H,S & E services for a variety of business activities in both the UK and Eire: manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, construction, prestige office premises, recording studios.
 
She is experienced in providing both strategic direction and hands-on operational guidance, has excellent communication and problem solving skills, is approachable and proficient at dealing with all levels of an organisation; good at interpreting legal requirements and translating these into workable policies.
Gill spent 12 years as the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager for Sony Music, part of one of the largest music and entertainment companies in the world.
 
Whilst with Sony Music, she acted (for 4 years) as the Health and Safety Advisor for The Entertainment Network, a sister company, distributing entertainment products (music, film & gaming).
 
Prior to this Gill spent 5 years as the Health and Safety Manager for Satchwell Control Systems, whose business activities covered the manufacture, distribution, installation, service & maintenance of Building Management Systems.
 
Health and Safety
  • More than 25 years experience in developing health and safety management systems: writing and implementing policies and procedures, securing both employee and senior management commitment;
  • Effective communication of health and safety information using a variety of means, including paper / electronic formats (e.g establishing H & S and Environmental intranet sites) and training;
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with regulatory authorities;
  • Policies / procedures developed include  risk assessment, COSHH assessment, driving on Company business, management of contractors, management of asbestos, employee health and safety handbook;
  • Audits of health and safety arrangements for both premises and employees.
 
Environment  
  • More than 15 years experience of developing environmental management systems: identifying environmental impacts, writing and implementing policies and procedures, monitoring system and environmental performance, securing both employee and senior management commitment; 
  • Designed, developed and implemented Environmental Management System (EMS) and gained accreditation of the EMS to ISO14001;
  • Established and maintained excellent record of external audits of EMS;
  • Expanded recycling schemes and increased employee participation in environmental initiatives.
 
Before moving into health, safety and environmental management, Gill had an 8 year career in Personnel Management, spending 3 years as Personnel Officer for Granada Motorway Services, and 5 years as Senior Personnel Officer for Satchwell Control Systems.
 
Gill is a Chartered Member of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH), is an OSHCR Registered Consultant, holds a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety and is a EARA Approved Advanced EMS Lead Auditor. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and a BA (Hons) Modern Studies.
 
She is a past Secretary of the London Health and Safety Group and the Thames Valley Health and Safety Group.
